READY TO MOUNT BEARING UNITS

Ranges of ready to mount bearing units (also know as Self-Lube Units) are available.

Bearing units consist of a double sealed single row deep grove ball bearing and any one of cast iron, pressed steel or synthetic rubber housings of various configurations.

The self-contained bearing with a spherical ground outside diameter is assembled into a corresponding spherical seat of the housing, providing self-alignment of the bearing in the housing.

As standard the bearings have an extended inner race on one, which is fitted with two set screws for locking on to the shaft. Adaptor sleeve and eccentric locking collar types are also available.

For more severe operating conditions pressed steel bearing end covers are available. 

Inserts come with a range of metric and imperial shaft sizes.

WARNING!

There are many different manufacturers of this type of bearing, the original being. RHP which is now NSK, the majority of later manufacturers casting dimensions are directly interchangeable with the original RHP unit.

However;

Not all makes of bearing units are directly interchangeable!
 
When buying a new bearing unit that is not the same make as the unit being replaced it is important to check the vital dimensions, such as bolt hole centre distances, bolt hole diameters and in the case of pillow blocks, base to shaft centre height.
